MEMBERS and guests were welcomed by the president, Ellen Gwynne, to the December meeting for a combined celebration of Christmas and the 80th Anniversary.
Following a short business meeting members were entertained by the Two4One duo of Sandy and Alan, who took them down memory lane with a lively performance of hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s plus well known musical shows.
Red, green and gold coloured 80 balloons decorated the hall and Pauline Phillips won the competition for the best seasonal table arrangement.
All the members contributed to a tempting selection of delicious savouries. The spectacular tower cake arrangement cleverly spanned the 80 years with a beautifully decorated traditional cake made by Janet Beats at the top, and a modern display of cup cakes made by Shelagh Willis underneath.
In closing the celebrations, Ellen thanked everyone who had worked hard to make this special evening so enjoyable.
The next meeting will be held on February 3 commencing at 7.30pm at Leigh & Bransford Memorial Hall – when Rob Stevenson will give a presentation on Working with the Environment.
