THE Wellington Heath Bridge Club hosted two important events in November, the No Fears Teams County Championships and the Simultaneous Pairs in aid of Children in Need.

On Saturday, November 8 eight teams of four players competed in the No Fears Teams' County Championship. This competition gives less experienced players the opportunity of joining well-established players as members of the same team. Three members of the Wellington Heath Club were in the winning team: Val Glazzard, Naomi Lacey and Martyn Moxley and they will be County Champions for 2014-15.

On Tuesday, November 11 the Wellington Heath Bridge Club participated in a successful international event in aid of Children in Need. Over a period of a week hundreds of Bridge Clubs from all over the UK and Europe took part. Each day different hands were played and donations passed on to the organisers. The Wellington Heath Club had 44 players taking part this year and raised £137 towards a grand total raised of nearly £60,000.

The Bridge Club started when the new Memorial Village Hall was opened. It has nearly 100 listed members and meets on Tuesday afternoons. Since its formation it has held a number of events in aid of charities, including St Michaels Hospice as well as Children in Need.
