LEDBURY Walkers’ Club recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with a celebration buffet held in the Baptist Church Hall.
The Club was formed in November 1994, after an initiative by Ledbury Town Council, and walks have been held almost every week since then.
Around 40 current and past members marked the occasion with a shared meal – and a birthday cake which was ceremoniously cut by Mary Deane, the leader of the very first walk and a member of the original steering committee.
The Club currently has over 100 members, and walks – usually about five miles in length - are held on most Thursday mornings.
Occasional walks are held at the weekend as well, and the Club prides itself on being a friendly group, with the social side of walking at least as important as distance covered.
In November, the Club will have an anniversary walk, re-tracing the route of the very first walk from Ledbury to Eastnor through Conigree Woods.
