DURING the last few weeks we have been privileged to experience eleven days of outstanding sportsmanship by people from all across the Commonwealth, each in their own particular discipline. But there is one thing that is common to each athlete and that is a focused mind. In order for an athlete to succeed there needs to be complete dedication to the cause.

In a similar way Christians need to be dedicated to the cause. Christians need to have focused minds. So what is the cause and where do our minds need to be focused? Jesus gave the answer to this when he said, “Love the Lord your God with your whole being and love your fellow human beings as you love yourself.”

That’s an enormous challenge - but so was competing in the Commonwealth Games.
