CONGRATULATIONS to Classes 3 and 4 of Callow End Primary School for their polished performance of Aladdin Trouble, a pantomime, played to two audiences in the school hall last Thursday.

All the children played their parts with confidence and the words were spoken with clarity. It is not possible to mention every child by name but special comment must be made of the Year 6 children Louise Pead as Aladdin and Bryony Heasman as Princess Jasmine; their confident singing far exceeded their years. Sol Fraser stepped effortlessly into the role of the evil Abanaza and with his side-kick, played by Michael Heasman, raised many boos and hisses in true panto style. The dame Widow Twanky and helpers Wishy and Washy were played by boys Bob Rice, Dominic Bayley and Joseph Mason, who were happy to don wigs! The children’s singing was a credit to all and to Mrs Mitchell as Musical Director. The costumes and the scenery gave a flavour of the East and were designed by Mrs Fry and Mrs Blakeley. Well done to everyone involved and to Mrs Sharp for directing!

The school term ends next week and the Leavers’ Service takes place on Tuesday at 9.15am in St James’ Church, Callow End.

The Wednesday Coffee shop held in Callow End Village Hall from 2pm to 4pm will continue through the summer. Through donations received over the year at the coffee shop, a cheque of £508.68 has been sent to Malvern Hills Food bank. Apart from the book swap, there will also be musical interludes played by Mark Whittal-Williams on his ukulele during the Wednesday afternoon coffee and chat.
