THE spring group meeting organised by St Gabriel’s was attended by Ros and Rita, where the speaker had been a musician playing the oboe with the CBSO and Opera North.

Seven members had a good night out at Callow End with the Worcester Ukulele Band.

Another knit and natter session was held in March and members are now working on teeny garments for the Premature Baby Unit and have made a vast colourful collection of vests, blankets and caps for the Fish and Chip Babies in Africa.

The speaker this month was Meg Farmer who had been a foster parent for many years. Trained as a nurse Meg had always been involved with children and after having three of her own, she decided she would take on this difficult task. Over a hundred children have passed through her hands during this time ranging from a baby of three hours old to teenagers. Over the years there have been many problems with the authorities, neighbours, parents, doctors, police and hospitals but she, her husband and the family have taken it all in their stride.

There were sad stories and happy stories, but members realise people like Meg are needed to cover these emergencies.

Margaret Woodward thanked Meg for her very informative talk.

The next meeting on May 14 will be the AGM and Resolutions.
