AS we have come to expect from this accomplished choir, we were treated to a wonderful evening of singing in the magnificent surroundings of Leigh Church on Saturday, April 5 when Cradley Singers came to perform.
Under the baton of conductors Colin Myles and Kate Cheetham, the group presented a beautiful programme of singing in a variety of musical styles from Palestrina to Gerald Finzi. The group's music was nicely balanced with some wonderful singing by the Chamber Choir of The Bishop's School, Hereford, led by conductor Stefan Scot, especially the lovely Flower duet from Lakme sung by Olivia Hutton and Emily Leach.
After we had all enjoyed the legendary Leigh canapés, the group sang Faure's Requiem, with The Bishop's School once again on hand for the Pie Jesu. With Paul James on the newly refurbished Leigh organ and a big audience almost filling the church to raise money for the church's hearing loop, a fine finale to a wonderful evening.
