WHAT an honour it was to have ‘Dan Johnsey’ from Chepstow carry the Olympic torch in Malvern.
I was standing at the bottom of Malvern Link in Worcester Road to see this young man walk past Spring Gardens. The courage and smiles he has displayed is an inspiration to us all. To me, this is what the torch bearing is all about. A chance for real people ‘to shine’.
I know celebrities do give to charities but I didn’t want to see Will I am or any other over paid ‘A’ list celebrity but someone like Dan. So, well done to who ever nominated him.
Lastly, congratulations to the other torchbearers who took part in Malvern and to the people of Malvern for the warm welcome we all gave. You all did us proud.
FRED TANDY,
Malvern Link.
