ON a recent holiday in Italy my wife and I were charged one Euro each per day by the local authority – a local tourist tax collected by the hotel.
There is a maximum charge of seven days, and I assume it applies to adults only. If Malvern Hills District Council adopted something similar the revenue collected could be used to maintain and improve parks, gardens, the museum, etc.
In return the tourist could get free parking (to encourage spending in the shops/cafes), free Conservators car parking on the hills and commons, discounted entry to the theatre, Morgan Car Museum, discount tokens for local shops and cafes, etc.
Just a thought!
