MY thanks to Mr Porrittt (letters, last week) for taking the trouble to respond to my letter regarding water butts.
Had he not been in such haste, he would have realised he had completely missed the point.
Severn Trent do indeed sell water butts, but at a price that is on par with – or even more expensive than – DIY stores or Garden Centres.
Their pricing policies appear to be more fiscally motivated than environmentally so.
The county council provide compost bins at a fraction of the High Street price; why can’t Severn Trent do the same with water butts?
