IT is time once again to pull on the riding leathers and get in the saddle for a ride out in aid of a top Forces’ charity.

The Prince of Wales pub in Malvern, bouncing back from the theft of its charity tin last year, is, as promised, hosting a 150-mile ride out for Help For Heroes on Sunday, June 3.

Ian Randall, who runs the pub with wife Kham, said they would quite simply “raise more money” for the charity, after a thief snatched the tin off the pub’s bar in March.

Jason Quinn, of Stoke on Trent, was later caught and convicted, but the money never recovered. Now, everyone is invited to give generously and enjoy a ride out over the Diamond Jubilee weekend with the final destination the Armed Forces’ National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas in Staffordshire.

The charity supports injured serviceman, and at least two of the pub’s regulars are serving soldiers.

Mr and Mrs Randall have a reputation for supporting charities, having organised collections and events for Acorns Children’s Hospice and the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Last year, a similar ride out for HFH raised £544. Riders are asked to meet at the pub at 10am on the Sunday, before rolling out.

They are expected to be back about 3pm, when there will be a barbecue laid on for them and any other charity supporters looking for an excuse to have a knees-up.

Roly Love, HFH fund-raiser, said: “The commitment to charity by Ian, Kham and the customers is inspirational.”
