Hills badger cull

AN area in the Malvern Hills has been selected to pilot a badger cull in the autumn, the Government has announced.

The exact area has not been announced due to concerns over animal rights protests.

It forms part of an area comprising the Forest of Dean and Tewkesbury, and parts of Wychavon and West Gloucestershire Six-week trials will test the shooting of free-running badgers as part of efforts to tackle TB in cattle, a disease which ministers say will cost taxpayers about £1 billion over the next 10 years if not dealt with.

The pilot, which will include another area in west Somerset, will be paid for by farmers and will test how safe, humane and effective “controlled shooting” of badgers is.

Whatever does "In Malvern Hills" mean? Presumably not inside the Hills. So does this mean there will be shooting taking place ON the Hills, or within the bounds of Malvern Hills District?

I would like to have some questions answered by some persons who actually know the cost of the two following questions.
What is the cost of killing several badgers, and disposing of the carcasses?
What is the cost of Trapping these Badgers, and injecting them to rid them of the deceases?, and then returning them back into the wild?
Sensible answers only please.

Allan, as far as I know and I may be wrong: Farmers will be charged £20 per badger shot. An animal with TB would need a lengthy treatment to get rid of it - this would be cost a lot more than £20. As yet there is no vaccine to prevent badgers contracting TB. Here is a question I do know the answer to because it has been widely publicised by the government and is based on their own expert research: What effect will the culling of badgers have on the incidence of TB in cattle? Here's a clue, its one of the following - a) very little, b) none at all, c) it will increase
