A POLICE officer with West Mercia Police were among those to have been disciplined for making inappropriate comments on Facebook.

More than 200 complaints have been made against police officers across the UK for comments or photos posted on Facebook in the last four years.

It has resulted in at least two officers being sacked, seven quitting and more than 150 facing other disciplinary action, figures from 41 of the 43 forces showed.

The details were revealed following a request under the Freedom of Information Act and a review by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary.

The officer from West Mercia was given a final written warning in 2010 after making inappropriate comments on the social networking site. No other details of the incident have been made public.

Among the more serious incidents a 35-yearold Metropolitan Police constable was sacked in 2011 after referring to another officer as a "grass" and a "liar" and in 2009, an officer from the Hampshire force was sacked after posting a racist comment.
