HIGH winds caused havoc for drivers in and around Malvern yesterday.
Gusts of up to 60mph have battered the area over the last few days and a white Renault Clio crashed on Hanley Road, near to the Three Counties Showground, at about 7.23am yesterday morning when it hit part of a fallen tree.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said the male driver was not injured and the road was cleared within minutes.
A lime tree on Colwall Green, opposite Colwall CE Primary School, also fell early yesterday morning, blocking the B4218 in both directions. Staff from the Malvern Hills Conservators attended the scene at about 8am and the work to remove the debris was completed at about 10am.
They have also cleared fallen trees on Alice Betteridge Walk, on North Hill, and Brockhill Road, off West Malvern Road.
Ian Rowat, director of the Malvern Hills Conservators, said: “We would like to hear about any other reports of trees down on the roads or the hills.”
They can be contacted on 01684 892002.
