100 YEARS AGO.

Benjamin Morris of King's Hill, Leigh, was summoned for failing to give up the license for the removal of pigs from Worcester Market to his premises, after completing the movement. PC Holloway gave evidence, and defendant, who admitted it was due to neglect, was fined £1 and costs. George Bray, North Malvern, was fined 16s 6d inc costs for failing to isolate two pigs, as ordered by the Swine Fever Orders. Pc Griffin proved the case.

50 YEARS AGO.

Malvern Urban District Council at its meeting on Tuesday gave support towards the mounting of a new Malvern Festival in the spring of 1963 or 1964 by voting £1,000 towards the initial expenses. It was announced at the meeting that a promise of £1.000 had been received by the arts festival committee from Mrs F Dyson Perrins providing the council and town each gave £1,000.

25 YEARS AGO.

Malvern's two railway stations may be joined by a third if tentative suggestions to reopen Malvern Wells station meet with the approval of councillors. They will discuss the need to reopen the station which closed in the sixties during the Beeching cuts. The idea comes from British Rail, who stress that it is at a very early stage but have noticed the growth in the area with the development of the Fruitlands estate.
