A BARBECUE and firework display was one of the highlights of the Hospitals' Carnival Week, organised by students of the College of Electronics and reported in the Malvern Gazette 50 years ago. A crowd of over 3,000 gathered at West Malvern Playing Field for the event, held to raise money for the town's three hospitals.
The carnival week had previously got off to a flying start with a packed carnival ball at the Winter Gardens, with music from the famous Joe Loss and Orchestra.
