MALVERN'S unbeaten run continued on Saturday when they took the long journey for their first ever visit to Spalding and returned with a well deserved victory.
SPALDING 0, MALVERN TOWN 1
The game was decided with a series of incidents around 37 minutes. A bad back-pass let in Spalding striker Lovelace, who was pulled to the ground by Malvern's keeper Craig Humphries.
Referee Simmons pointed to the spot and had no hesitation in showing Humphries the red card.
Skipper Wes Joyce donned the goalie's shirt and brought off a terrific save from Pawson and then made two more great saves as the home side tried to force the rebound home.
Malvern then broke down the left and good play between Phil Preedy and Dean Roberts saw Preedy get round the back and square the ball back to Roberts to drive home.
Although reduced to ten-men Malvern defended magnificently and nearly increased their lead when Roberts' stinging drive hit the bar.
The nearest Spalding came to an equaliser was when man-of-the-match Dave Cannon cleared a Forbes effort off the line to help Malvern to their second away league win.
