ROSEMARY Bayles, welcomed members to the April meeting and introduced the speaker, Floyd Mills, of Hay Wines who has recently opened a shop in Ledbury. Mr Mills gave a lively and informative talk, interspersed with wine tasting. He told members he only buys wines from smaller growers and travels widely searching out quality wines. He said members should treat rose in a different way to red wine and try it with pink fish, scallops or rare beef. If we are worried about chemicals or additives in wine we are better to stick European wines as there are much stricter rules.

After a cup of tea, posters and leaflets were distributed for the May Fair on May 14 when a donation from the proceeds will be going to Growing Point. There will be two competitions which are open to all - No. 1 A loaf of Home Baked Bread (no machines) and No.2 A Photo entitled Animal or Animals. Members were asked for cakes for the Royal Wedding Party in the Parish Hall on Friday, April 29 from 3pm–5pm.

Members were also able to view the lovely display of toys which had been made for the Story Sack project. After Easter the toys, complete with sack will be presented to the children of Barrs Court School in Hereford.

The next meeting will be Thursday, May 12 in Bosbury Parish Hall when the speaker will be Brenda Drake on the work of the ACWW. For further information please telephone 01531 640 622. New members are always welcome. .
