HAVING struggled for much of last season, Malvern Rugby Club has a great air of expectancy surrounding it at the start of a new campaign.

Director of rugby David Robins believes that much of this is due to the stability afforded by an experienced and trusted executive, which guides the club.

Robins said: "In the depths of adversity last season chairman Peter Doran was always behind me, reassuring and supportive. That goes equally for the rest of the management team, from treasurer John Taverner and secretary Bill Pomeroy to president Terry Hunt.

"That confidence filtered through to the players, and as they start this new season with a push for promotion, they can have confidence that the fabric of the club is in sure and safe hands.

"Prudent management over the last 10 years has given Malvern RFC stability and some of the best facilities to be found at our level."

Whilst Robins and his coaching staff have been able to concentrate on getting the playing strength ready for the new season, the executive have been paving the way for further expansion, whilst a willing team of volunteers have spent the summer on maintenance work around the ground and buildings.

Chairman Peter Doran said: "As a small town club we don't have a big cheque book to wave around, so we are very reliant on volunteers to help with everything from painting the changing rooms to mending benches and sprucing up the goalposts.

"Anyone willing to devote a few hours a week will be welcomed with open arms."

Malvern start their Midlands Two West season on Saturday, September 9, with a visit to county rivals Bromsgrove and welcome Camp Hill to Spring Lane the following Saturday (September 16).
