THE WRVS Cordery Club will be meeting for a further outing on Thursday, December 16 when a coach will be leaving from the Village Hall at 12.30pm to go to the panto at the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury.

There will be a Christmas Draw to be held on Saturday, December 18 at Hanley Swan Village Stores. It will be held in aid of The County Air Ambulance. The first prize will be a brand new fully furnished dolls house (no onward chain!), which will be on display at Hanley Swan Village Stores. There are plenty of other prizes and tickets can be bought from either St James Church, Welland or the Hanley Swan Village Stores and are just £1 each! Father Christmas and an Air Ambulance will be there on the day!

The Tredegar Orpheus Male Voice Choir has arranged a concert (with others), in a concert hall in Ebbw Vale on Sunday, April 3, 2011. If you are interested in going to the concert and supporting them, there will be a coach going, with a local pickup. The cost for the coach trip ONLY will be £7 each, and booking your place is recommended. The tickets for the concert will be £10 each and bookings, with payment, will have to be made by the end of December. Please send your payments to Roz Davies at The Hanley Swann Post Office. You can find out more, or book a place, from Roz at Hanley Swann Post office on 310890 or David and Sue Richardson on 592088.

Just a note to say welcome to all newcomers to the village. If you wish to get involved in village affairs, the Parish Council meets every third Monday in the month at 7.30pm in the small room of the village hall and this might be a good place to get the feel of the village and it’s life. All members of the public are made to feel welcome and are given the chance to have a say at the beginning of each meeting. There is also the village notice-board at the village hall with a list of voluntary/interest groups, their contact details and upcoming events. Also, if you have access to the internet (and you can gain free access to this in the Library at the village hall), take a look at the Village website at:- www.wellandvillage.co.uk. This contains many (but not exhaustive) links to local organisations that maybe of interest.
