THE weather took its toll of our meeting last week so all the cakes and goodies had either to be eaten or put in the freezer ... not that with the temperatures we have had this last week would we have needed a freezer. I must admit that I took a bottle of elderflower stock out of the freezer and put it on the garage floor last Wednesday and it was still solid on Saturday! Hey! Ho!

I hope that not too many folk arrived at the hall expecting to be entertained; I am sure that most folk, like myself decided that it was a little dangerous to take a car out!

However we have hope that it will improve: let's face it it could not be much worse than the pea souper we have outside at the moment. Hopefully our Pot luck lunch will be able to go ahead next month on January 5. We will start a little later and suggest that if you arrive around 11.30am we should have everything ready to go for a super lunch. A choice of three different pots (or as Alan does, no choice, just all three!) followed by a selection of scrummy puddings with coffee and mince pies to finish it all off. We will be ringing round the members a little nearer the time to check on numbers but there will be plenty for any extras that come along. If you want to know more please phone Alan on 575671 or myself on 592709. for any more details or if you need transport to get you to Christchurch Hall and back. Come and join us for a great meal. And we include in our invitation any folk who are looking for new friends or indeed those who wish to renew old friendships.

I still have some tickets for Kay's Panto on January 12. Do please let me know if you want me to keep you one (or more). This weather has upset all the planning that we are usually able to do so I am relying on those of you who read this to pick up the phone, as they say in all the best TV shows, and let me know your requirements.

In the meantime may we, at Amity, wish all our present, and past, members a happy and peaceful Christmas ... hope Santa brings you lots of joy and happiness.

See you all in the New Year.

CHRISTINE GLEDHILL.
