LEIGH & Bransford Primary School suffered semi-final heartache as they were beaten 4-3 on penalties in a penalty shoot-out at a Midlands competition.

The Worcestershire school were beaten by Leicestershire's Woodcote Primary School after goalless normal and extra periods in the English Schools FA’s Small Schools Soccer Sevens Regional Championships.

After previously being crowned county champions to qualify for the event, the Leigh Sinton-based primary school were grouped with the champions of Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Humberside in a four-team opening group stage.

A Sam Harcombe brace and an Iosac Nelson strike earned a 3-0 opening win over Humberside’s St James’ Primary.

This was followed by a goalless draw over eventual tournament winners North Leverton Primary School.
