A FANTASTIC all-round performance by the young Spurs side saw them run out deserved winners against a resolute Oldbury Park Tigers team in this MFJFL u9s Division One encounter.

The game was played at Oldbury Park School on a cold but sunny morning, and a brace of goals apiece for captain Dan Medakovic and striker Nathan Gaiderman was enough to seal the win for the Leigh and Bransford outfit.

With the game goalless at half-time, changes were made with defenders Ryan Davies and Danny Gauci taking the field.

Medakovic won yet another corner from which the first goal was to come from.

As always the visiting midfielder struck the ball crisply into the Tigers’ penalty area, and was delighted to see his corner squeeze between the home defender and the post and into the back of the net.

Sam Hawthorn was now controlling the midfield and his distribution down both flanks was excellent as he set up numerous attempts on the Oldbury goal.

The Spurs side continued to press down both wings, and scored from another Dan Medakovic corner.

The ball again was delivered with pace and Jazz Byers created some confusion in the Oldbury defence.

This saw the ball fall to the left foot of Nathan Gaiderman who hammered a powerful shot into the roof of the net.

The third goal came almost immediately from the kick-off and was an individual Nathan Gaiderman effort.

The striker cut into the penalty area past the covering defender before calmly delivering a right-foot shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The newly introduced Badgers’ defensive pairing of Ryan Davies and Danny Gauci showed great concentration and continued to maintain the defensive stranglehold on their hosts that the Spurs side had shown in the first-half.

The final goal came from a flowing move starting with Sam Hawthorn playing a ball up the right-wing to Jazz Byers.

The Spurs midfielder beat his marker before delivering a quality cross into the danger area. The ball fell to the feet of his supporting Medakovic, who unleashed a thunderous shot from close range that the Tigers keeper could not keep out.
