The books, written by Eric Hill and published by Puffin, narrate the tales of the fun-loving Spot the dog, first introduced in a lift-the-flap storybook titled 'Where's Spot?' in 1980.

The books have been a major part of children's lives for over 40 years, and has sold over 65 million copies worldwide, translated into more than 60 languages.

The cast for 'Spot’s Birthday Party' includes James Dodd as Steve (the monkey), Sam (Spot’s dad) and Tom (the crocodile), with Jessica Friend playing Sally, Spot’s Mum, and Helen (the hippo).

Emily Abbot and Roman Armstrong will also feature.

Amber Kelly will make her professional debut as Spot.

She said: "I can’t wait to bring the magic of Spot to life live on stage.

"Spot was a huge part of my childhood, I remember reading the books and have really fond memories of enjoying Spot with my family, as I’m sure many children across the UK do.

"I’m so excited to be playing Spot in my professional stage debut, and we can’t wait to meet fans up and down the country to join in the fun and games at his birthday party."

Based on two classic Spot books, 'Happy Birthday, Spot!' and 'Where’s Spot?', the show invites young attendees and their guardians to engage in singing, dancing, and saying a big 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPOT!' together.

Guy Unsworth, the acclaimed writer and director who developed the words and songs for the show, said, "Spot’s stories are filled with warmth, fun and lots of love so I can’t wait to share this timeless classic on stage with songs, party hats and Spot’s animal friends."

Tickets for Spot’s Birthday Party are available to buy now, with prices beginning at £10.
