A popular boutique hotel has begun a new chapter after naming its new general manager.

Michael Pearson, who was born and raised in Malvern, has assumed the role at four-star hotel, The Cottage in the Wood Malvern, with the aim: "to further establish the boutique hotel as a unique destination where guests come to enjoy the natural surroundings of the Malvern Hills by celebrating the good stuff in life."

It won Hotel of the Year at the Worcestershire Tourism Awards in 2023 and was recently awarded four AA stars.

The hotel's restaurant, 1919, also gained 3AA rosettes in September.

The hotel indicates that the team, led by Mr Pearson, aims to make the venue the go-to place for foodies with regular introductions of new seasonal tasting menus, cocktails and events.

Following his appointment Mr Pearson said: "Working at The Cottage in the Wood Malvern was always a dream of mine.

"It’s been a place for family gatherings, which I remember from when I was growing up, and even as an adult, I always dreamt about what I could bring to the hotel if I were to manage it.

"I am excited about the new role and working closely with the team to bring the experience to life."

Owner Nick Davies welcomed the appointment, saying: "With his passion for the industry and his trendsetting vision, Michael is joining our young and dynamic team and has many ideas for the hotel, bar, and restaurant."
