A Malvern pianist is to perform new works by a composer who takes inspiration from the area.

Tim Sidford will give a solo piano recital at Christ Church in Avenue Road on Sunday, October 22 at 3pm.

The concert will raise money for Cancer Research UK and tickets at £10 can be bought on the door.

Tim is a concert performer who trained at the Royal College of Music and has played at many prestigious venues including London’s Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room.

Since moving to Malvern, he teaches piano and violin in schools and privately.

The programme includes a sonata by Haydn, and one of Chopin’s greatest masterpieces, the First Ballade.

It also features new pieces by local composer Daniel Botting, including the premiere of his own ‘Ballade’.

Daniel’s music is greatly inspired by the landscape and rich cultural history of Malvern.

“Elgar’s music is in the air, and these pieces are very influenced by the Late Romantic Style,” he said. “But I always look for fresh ways of combining styles, to create an emotional journey in sound.”
