Young organist Callum Alger will give the first organ recital of the 2023 season at Malvern Priory.
Callum, director of music at Wolverhampton Collegiate Church, graduated with a first-class honours degree in Music Performance and is a prize-winning fellow of the Royal College of Organists.
He has given recitals at Westminster Abbey, St John’s Smith Square and St Paul’s Cathedral.
He made a great impression at last year’s Three Choirs Festival and will repeat the same interesting and varied programme in Malvern on the magnificent 3000-pipe organ on Saturday, February 4 at 12pm.
Walton’s Crown Imperial March, composed for the 1937 Coronation of George VI, is the
rousing curtain-raiser followed by works of Bach, Franck, Fauré, and Widor.
Playing of the highest order can be expected and can be watched on the large video screen. Admission is free with a retiring collection.
