TRUCKS and trailers from the Debenhams fleet are going under the hammer for bargain prices as part of the troubled retailer’s fire sale.

The 200-strong fleet is up for auction as part of the liquidated company’s fire sale.

The chain is set to shut all 124 of its UK stores, a process that started in December with the final nail in the coffin administered by a takeover by online-only retailer Boohoo.

Stores still plan to trade after lockdown to get through the last of the company’s stock but that will not be the case in Worcester following the expiry of its lease during the third national Covid-19 lockdown.

It was announced last month that the Debenhams warehouse in Peterborough would close with many of the vehicles that transported goods to all corners of the country now up for grabs in another signal towards the inevitable for staff on the brink of redundancy.

Part one of the “multi-phase” sale of the 200-vehicle fleet, led by company restructuring firm Hilco, ends tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10am with some trailers currently going for as little as £400 and trucks with high bids at £1,000.
