"A STRIKINGLY positive school culture" - that's how Dyson Perrins C of E Academy has been described in its latest Ofsted report.

The report, just out, puts the school at Yates Hay Road in the 'Good' category, the same grade the school achieved in its previous Ofsted report in January 2015.

And acting head Peter Wallace said that the school is delighted with the report, written following a one-day inspection on March 27.

The inspectors were impressed with the progress of students, noting that “leaders have worked relentlessly to improve teaching and pupils’ progress” and that “staff and pupils have excellent relationships”.

Disadvantaged pupils at Dyson Perrins make good progress overall and this was noted as a “considerable success”

Behaviour was also singled out for praise. Inspectors stated: “Staff show pupils that they care about their well-being and progress. In response, pupils treat staff with respect, are kind to one another, feel very safe and able to do their best.”

Looking to the future, the report urges the school to improve pupils' progress in history and languages and ensure that post-16 A-level students make good progress.

Acting head Peter Wallace said: “We are delighted with the outcome of the inspection, particularly given the new framework which is so much more demanding than previous ones.

"For the past two years, students at Dyson Perrins have made more progress than students with similar starting points both locally and nationally, and this is just reward for all of the hard work of the staff, students and parents at Dyson Perrins. I now look forward to building on this success in the future."
