EMERGENCY services raced to Upton in numbers this evening, following reports that a man had fallen into the river.

Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue service said a search along the river from the Marina was carried out but no one was found.

The search was later called off and police say they believe it is was a hoax.

People living near to Gardens Walk reported seeing multiple police cars and said they believed officers were searching along the river on foot and in a boat.

Residents said a helicopter was also overhead and ambulances with blue lights flashing were seen heading towards the river near to a track by Minge Lane and the Upton Ham Nature Reserve at around 6pm today.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue were called at 5.45pm this evening (Monday, October 16).

Neither West Mercia Police or West Midlands Ambulance Service have been able to provide a comment regarding what is happening.
