A SECOND mystery fiver has been discovered in a library book from The Hive in Worcester.

We reported last month how Worcester News reporter Robert Hale had found the crisp note along with a pink sticky note with the handwritten message, 'Well done on your quest for knowledge – it is its own reward.'

The £5 appeared to have been deliberately hidden within the pages of the book to be discovered only when it was read.

Now, Harry Browne, a student from Malvern, has found another £5 note and an identical handwritten message in a book he borrowed from the city's library.

Mr Browne said he visited The Hive after returning home from university for the Easter holidays.

He said: "I have a few essays coming up so I thought I would visit the Hive to get some books out.

"It was when I flicked to the final chapter of one of my books, A History of Britain in the 1980s, that I found another mystery fiver, almost identical to the one found a few weeks ago."

Although Mr Hale had pledged to 'pass it forward' by hiding the £5 in another book, Mr Browne believes he has found a different fiver.

Mr Browne said his discovery shows that whoever is behind the financial gifts may be following a theme based on different decades.

His book references the 1980s while Mr Hale found his £5 in a copy of Revolution in the Head, the Beatles' records and the sixties, by the late rock critic Ian MacDonald.

Mr Browne said he too would be returning the £5 to the pages of a book for another reader to find.

He said: "There is clearly a theme to the locations of the fivers, so I'll do my best to fit the theme when I put this one back into circulation."
