CUSTOMERS can try out four leisure centres for free as part of a drive to boost the use of the facilities.

Freedom Leisure intend to offer a range of free activities across the Malvern Hills district, on Saturday, January 28.

Open days will be held at Malvern Splash, Tenbury Pool, Sport Dyson Perrins and Sport Martley from 9am to 4pm.

Free gym sessions and exercise classes are going to be available at all of the sites.

David Pugh, Freedom Leisure area manager, said: "The district is lucky to have four great, local, community focused centres.

"However, we believe that many locals may be overlooking them and may not have been in for some time, with some never having used them and this is a real shame!

"It isn’t just swimming, gym and fitness classes on offer either; between the four sites they provide a huge array of leisure and fitness activities."

Mr Pugh said the sports sites also have halls which can cater for racket and indoor pitch sports.

"They also offer kids clubs, activities and soft play, with Malvern Splash hosting a leisure pool for the entire family, including a flume and wave machine," he said.

"And the cherry on top of the district's leisure facilities, is the climbing wall at Sport Martley – we really are extremely lucky to have a provision such as this in the area!"

Cllr David Watkins, district councillor for healthier communities, said the open day was a great opportunity to experience the recently refurbished facilities.

The free activities available at the Sport Martley centre include climbing, badminton, a bouncy castle and soft play.

Tennis players can also enjoy a few free games at Sport Dyson Perrins; in addition to soft play, a bouncy castle, and badminton.

A swim at Tenbury Pool and Malvern Splash will only cost £1 on the open day.

There will also be free aquatic adventures, pre-school swimming lessons, aqua zumba and face painting at Malvern Splash throughout the day.

Some of the sessions have to be booked beforehand.
