IT'S back in 1971 and the seven young ladies to reach the final of Dairy Maid of Worcestershire line up at Malvern Winter Gardens.
They were judged "not only on their looks and personality, but on their knowledge of farming and their ability to converse readily".
Winner was 21-year-old Shirley Richards (second left) of Hadzor, Droitwich, of Crowle Young Farmers, and runner-up was Rebecca Townsend (third left), aged 18, of Rashwood, Droitwich, a member of Bromsgrove YFC.
The national finals were in London and the winner took home a car, not a tractor.
