IN the 100th anniversary year of major First World War battles, including Jutland and the Somme, communities in and around Malvern and Ledbury will have plenty of opportunities to remember the fallen on and around Remembrance Sunday.

In Great Malvern, there will be a short service at the war memorial in the Priory, from 10.45am on Armistice Day, Friday, November 11.

And on Remembrance Sunday, November 13, the Royal British Legion will hold its service at the war memorial in the library grounds, off Graham Road, at 2pm. The Malvern Boys' and Girls' Brigade band will lead a parade along Graham Road, which will include representatives of the armed forces, cadet units, emergency service and youth organisations, before the wreath-laying and the service itself.

In Upton, the Armistice Day commemoration is at 11.11am outside the Memorial Hall, Old Street, and on Sunday, the parade will assemble outside the old fire station at 10.30am for the march to the church. The service will be followed by a parade to the old church tower, where wreaths will be laid.

Christ Church, Avenue Road, is holding its Remembrance Sunday service at 10.45am, as is St James the Great in Colwall.

In Ledbury, Armistice Day will be marked with an act of remembrance at the town centre war memorial, from 10.55am.

There will also be a Remembrance Sunday parade by the war memorial, from 10.45am, followed by a service in St Michael and All Angels Church.

Finally, there will be Ledbury Town Commemoration of the Battle of the Somme, which took the lives of 54 soldiers from Herefordshire, including two from Ledbury. This will take place at St Michael and All Angels on Friday, November 18, from 6.30pm, to be followed by another commemoration at the war memorial.

The Remembrance Sunday Service at St John the Baptist Eastnor, will take place from 11.15am.

At Bosbury Church, Parish Communion and a Remembrance Sunday Service will take place from 9.30pm.

The Remembrance Sunday service at Tarrington Church will take place from 10.45am.

And the annual British Legion Service this year, for Remembrance Sunday, will take place this year from 10.45am, at Munsley Church.

At Much Marcle, there will be prayers at the village's Memorial Hall at 10.30am on Remembrance Sunday, followed by a service in St Bartholomew's Church from 10.45am.

And at Wellington Heath, there will be a service in the village's Memorial Hall, at 10.45am.

At St Mary's Church in Newent, there will be Remembrance Sunday service at 10am, followed by an act of remembrance at the war memorial, from 11am.
