A 33-YEAR-OLD member of the public was found collapsed with a serious head injury in Worcester police station backyard.

Police received reports about the man in the station backyard, in Castle Street, at around 4.45pm yesterday.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault but has been released on police bail until October 31.

The injured man, who also sustained an arm injury, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital at 5.41pm by a land ambulance and has since been discharged.

An air ambulance was called to Worcester Racecourse in response to the incident, along with two land ambulances and a responder paramedic.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called by the police at 4.45pm, with a responder paramedic arriving at just after 5pm.

One helicopter, two land ambulances and a responder paramedic were dispatched by the ambulance service.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: “Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity between 3pm and 3:30pm within the College Street area.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

An ambulance service spokesman said they often assess the best way to transport patients.
