A MUM-of one who describes herself as "not your typical pageant girl" has become a beauty queen thanks to her body confidence.

Jasmine Pratt, from Barbourne, admitted that before having her son almost two years ago she would never be brave enough to step on the stage.

But, after a friend twisted her arm, she did just that at the most recent Miss Enchanted Rose, in Cardiff, strutting her stuff in a bikini and glamorous gowns.

Her confidence shone through and Miss Pratt picked up the title and the tiara and will represent Worcestershire at Miss Glamorous Beauty UK in November.

The 21-year-old, who is mum to 21-month-old Alfie, said: "I'm not your typical pageant girl as I'm bigger in size than most of the pageant girls - I'm a UK size 14.

"I had a lot of confidence issues because of it and really felt down about my size after struggling to lose weight.

"After having my son I've been trying to accept and love myself and my body.

"Pageants have really helped me feel beautiful and grow my confidence and I want people to know they are more than what they seem and show people that you don't have to be a size six or eight to be a pageant girl and feel beautiful."

Miss Pratt said the events were not just about looks but also focused on factors such as confidence, personality, elegance and etiquette.

Charity work is also important and Miss Pratt will be hoping to raise £500 for animal sanctuary All Creatures Great and Small with a craft fayre and the Lyppards Grange Community Centre, Warndon, on Saturday, November 5 from 2pm to 5pm.

Miss Pratt is also hoping to organise her own event.

She said: "People should love themselves whatever their size - as long as there isn't any health issues.

"The pageant really pushed me and I've learned to love myself and I feel body positive."
