RESIDENTS of a retirement development in Malvern Link threw open its doors for a special fun day to welcome in the wider community.

Clarence Park Village off Worcester Road held the event for people of all ages to come in, see the community and find out what it is all about.

The creation of Fortis Living, the village provides accommodation for over-55s with a wide range of facilities on site including restaurant, gym, craft and hobby room, hair and beauty salon and an IT suite and library.

On the day, Clarence Park played host to local organisations such as Route to the Hills, which provided a sandpit for children to play in, St John Ambulance, Freedom Leisure and Pickersleigh Community Garden, which was selling seedlings to help finance his work.

Face painting was available, visitors played boules with residents and local duo Glam Sparrow provided music.

Ros Goldsby of Fortis said: "Many of these facilities at Clarence Park are open to the wider community and one of the aims of the fun day was to welcome people in and show what we have to offer. The village is a bit hidden away off Worcester Road and we wanted to show that we're linked in to the wider community. People can come and eat in our restaurant, they can join our gym, and book to take part in many of the activities that we host here.

"We had about 70 people come in on the day and everyone had a really good time. There were people of all ages, and we had a lot of children in, and there was a really good atmosphere."

Fortis Living’s next community event in Malvern will be at Dukes Meadow, off Pickersleigh Road, on Friday, August 5, from 1pm to 3.30pm.
