GLORIOUS weather and a big turnout ensured that Malvern Cricket Club’s fete on Sunday was the most successful of recent years.
Members of the club, supporters and passers-by enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at the event, which this year was organised in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board's Club Open Days initiative, sponsored by Waitrose.
There were many stalls at the Regency Road ground, such as mini-golf challenges, a tin can shy, beat the goalie and skittles, with wellie wanging and egg catching being particularly popular.
Many were content to enjoy the sun and enjoy a hamburger and a drink from the licensed bar or take tea and cake from the generously-stocked cake stall.
Club chairman Don Bendall said: “This is the busiest that we have been for some years, which is all down to the efforts of all the volunteers who helped organise the event and keep the club running.
"All the money raised will go towards keeping this volunteer-run club going. I feel this is especially important as we have several junior teams which continue to go from strength to strength and for the local schools that make use of our facilities for a variety of sporting activities.”
Malvern CC is always looking for new players of all ages and abilities. If you are interested, contact committee@malverncc.co.uk.
