THE sun has been shining as crowds flock to a three day music festival, being held in Worcester this weekend.

Pavilion in the Park in Tybridge Street is the venue for the Severn Sounds Festival, which began on Friday.

The festival, in its fourth year, has attracted acts from across the Midlands, including Halesowen, Cheltenham and Bromsgrove.

The music tent was packed out last night for the headliners - Queen tribute band The Bohemians.

Over the weekend they are being joined by fellow headliners The Magoos, Jasper in the Company of Others, Dexeter, Done By Sunrise and Blobbie Williams, who will be closing the festival during a family fun day tomorrow.

As well as live music, festival-goers will be able to enjoy a range of activities during tomorrow's event including face painting, hook-a-duck, henna, a bouncy castle and tombola.

A fun photo booth, streaming directly to the festival's website, has also been popular as visitors have enjoyed donning fancy dress for it.

Over the years the festival has raised thousands for local charities and Ben Russell, who co-organisers the event with fellow musician Scott Howland, said this year they were hoping to raise another £2,000.

"Every penny we raise goes to charity, and this year we have been supporting New Hope," Mr Russell said.

"There has been a fantastic turnout, it is a real community festival - and this has been one of our busiest ever."

Mr Howland added: "It is great we can support acts locally, so they can show Worcester what they have to offer.

"The weather has been good for us too."

Among the crowds today was Emilie Westcott, who said it was a fantastic atmosphere at the festival, and there was lots going on to entertain the crowds.

Worcester resident Joanne Jordan added: "It has been great.

"I think there is a lot that goes on in Worcester, but we need more of these festivals."
