A MOTORCYCLIST suffered broken ribs after crashing into a bin lorry.
The crash happened outside Broad Oak Garage in Broad Oak, Herefordshire at about 1.50pm this afternoon.
An ambulance was initially sent but was backed up by the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The incident happened close to the cross roads.
"The motorcyclist, who was in his 60s, tried to avoid the bin lorry but ended up catching the rear of the vehicle.
“He was incredibly unlucky because he fell onto the upturned handlebars, landing on his ribs.
"Had he missed those he might have escaped injury completely.
“He was able to get to his feet but was immobilised as a precaution and given pain relief, before being taken by land ambulance to Hereford County Hospital with broken ribs.”
