IT was Game for a Laugh at a newly-refurbished Malvern charity shop on Friday when actor and presenter Matthew Kelly turned up to perform the opening ceremony.
The new St Richard's Hospice shop at Worcester Road, Malvern Link, specialises in books, CDs and DVDs. It used to be the hospice's main shop, until the launch of the larger St Richard's shop just across the road.
Matthew Kelly, who has been starring in Richard Bean's play Toast at Malvern Theatres, accepted an invitation from the hospice to open the shop.
Danny Corns, commercial director at St Richard’s Hospice, said: "We were absolutely delighted that Matthew Kelly agreed to take some time out of his busy schedule to give some star quality to the launch of our newly-transformed bookshop.
"After cutting the ribbon and declaring the shop officially open, he took the time to chat to hospice staff, volunteers and customers and raised a toast to the hospice and the success of the store."
St Richard's Hospice supports over 2,600 patients and family members from Worcestershire a year.
The hospice is committed to providing a high-quality experience for people visiting its shops and offering an easy way for people to get involved with the organisation by donating unwanted items or buying them. A programme of store refurbishment has kept it ahead of the game compared to other charities, increasing the number of people visiting its stores and maximising the money raised from donated items.
