MALVERN'S deputy mayor found herself in front of a classroom full of French teenagers during a twinning visit.

Cllr Cynthia Palmer was taking part in a visit to Bagnères-de-Bigorre as part of the initiative to twin the two towns.

As part of the mission, Cllr Palmer spent a morning at St Vincent's College in the town with a class of 14-year-old pupils.

The lesson began with a photo presentation about Malvern in French from Graham Dimmock, chair of the Malvern-Bagnères Twinning Association, was followed by a lively question-and-answer session led by Cllr Palmer in English.

The students were very excited about the possibility of visiting Malvern on a school exchange, and St Vincent’s College is already actively engaged in finding a partner school in Malvern so that reciprocal visits can take place.

Later the same day, members of the delegation met their opposite numbers in the Bagnères Twinning Association, and excellent progress was made in identifying clubs and associations who might benefit from the towns’ twinning.
