FAMILIES are expected to flock to the Three Counties Showground this Easter Holiday as the popular Countrytastic returns.

The event brings all the fun of the farmyard to the Showground with the chance to meet and make friends with a host of animals.

Donkeys, goats, cows, rabbits, sheep, pigs and alpacas will be at the show.

A theme of Crops will run throughout this year’s show.

BBC Countryfile and Cotswold Farm Park favourite, Adam Henson will front the show offering ‘tales from the bales’ in the Livestock Ring with stories about his own farm.

In the ‘Ask The Farmer’ theatre children and grown-ups can learn the stories behind many kitchen cupboard staples.

Easy Peasy Cookery will be demonstrating the journey of food from field to fork with hands on sessions for children about cooking with crops in a pop-up kitchen.

Children’s TV star Tractor Ted will be inviting budding farmers to climb aboard his enormous inflatable bouncy tractor at the heart of the show.

Straw baling displays and a Countrytastic Maze are also expected to be popular.

Ken Nottage, CEO of Three Counties, said: “Countrytastic is a real celebration for all the family. This is a show designed to engage the next generation in the fun of the farmyard with an entire day devoted to family fun. Throughout the day there’s plenty of opportunities for children to get stuck in and get their hands dirty – from bottle-feeding lambs, to cooking workshops and planting their own mushroom logs to take home. The showground will also be awash with feathered and furry friends too with a petting corner and grooming stations.”

In the Wag and Bone Ring children can get involved in session on caring for a pony and also watch displays of Shetland pony cart rides.

Westons Cider will also be running dray rides.

Little ones can also climb aboard agricultural machinery old and new and have a go on pedal tractors.

And Junkfish will host free ‘make and take’ children’s craft activities.

Most activities will be indoors to make sure the event will be successful whatever the weather.

Bredon School, which boasts its own farm, is sponsoring Countrytastic 2016.

Gemma Doyle of Bredon School said: “Understanding about agriculture and its role in this country is so important. Countrytastic gives us this platform to meet local families, share the work we do on our farm and show our animals.”

Countrytastic will take place from 10am to 5pm on Thursday, March 31. Tickets are priced at £6 with free entry for threes and under.
