EARLY bird tickets are available for a new music festival being held in Upton Upon Severn.

Mello festival is being held over the spring bank holiday, between May 27 and May 29, at Throckmorton Airfield.

It has been organised by the people behind the Sunshine Music Festival, who felt that was a gap in the market for this type of festival.

Kevin Quaine promotions manager, said: "We feel that musically Worcestershire lacks a festival that champions 'real music on a large scale', hence the need to create Mello.

"We're delighted to be holding it at the iconic Throckmorton Airfield and intend to take into account the historical values it holds when producing the festival."

Among the main acts confirmed to be playing the event are The Levellers, Lemar, Blockheads and N-Trance.

Other acts have also been added to the line up including Baby D, The Baskervilles, Pentangle, and Electric Swing Circus.

Veteran folk-rockers The Levellers are famed for their live performances playing hits from across more than two decades.

Lemar rose to fame after finishing third on British talent show Fame Academy, going on to achieve seven top 10 singles and selling two million albums.

The Blockheads were originally Ian Drury and the Blockheads, but the band have continued to perform since Dury's death in 2000, playing best known hit singles including Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick, and Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3.

Hit singles from Baby D, Let Me Be Your Fantasy, and N Trance, Set You Free, are also set to get the crowd dancing.

A special early bird ticket for an adult for the entire weekend, including camping, is being sold for £65. Youngsters, under 12, go free.
