SNOW and ice could be on its way to Worcestershire, according to the Met Office.

It has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice across the county, and the rest of the West Midlands.

Heavy showers were forecasted for the region last night, which were expected turn to snow on higher ground.

A longer spell of sleet and snow was expected to move across the West Midlands from Wales.

As temperatures became colder during the night, ice formed on untreated surfaces.

The warning was extended into today, and was valid until around 11am.

Motorists are being warned to drive carefully in the conditions.

Areas of recent flooding in the area, including the King's School cricket field in Worcester, had frozen overnight.
