A JEWELLER has spoken of her anger after thieves swiped around £2,500 worth of her handmade rings from the window of Malvern Tourist Information Centre (TIC).

Anna Mcloughlin, 39, who owns Anna Fine Jewellery, had paid to display ten rings in the window at the TIC in Church Street.

However overnight on Saturday, January 9, thieves smashed the window and snatched the jewellery, which is made from silver and non-precious stones.

She said: "There are many more bigger issues going on in the world at the moment than me losing a few rings, but it is very frustrating and it makes you angry that somebody would do this.

"I do not expect that they have any consideration for the amount of work and time that has gone in to making them.

"They haven't just stolen them from someone who is mass producing them.

"Having the shop front, it is part of my whole business ethos. I'm trying to be very ethical and I'm trying to attract more local clients and show more people I'm there.

"I'm angry that somebody would want to vandalise anywhere."

An appeal to find the rings was launched on Sunday and has been widely shared on Facebook and Twitter.

The rings had been on display at the Malvern Hills District Council-run centre since Monday, January 4.

Ms Mcloughlin, who makes her rings from a workshop in Malvern, thanked everyone who has shared her appeal on social media.

Simon Smith, economic development manager at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "It’s the first time anything like this has ever happened at the TIC and we're shocked by this incident.

"Fortunately no one was hurt, a temporary repair was made to the window shortly after it was discovered and the TIC was able to open as normal.

"We'd urge anyone with any information which may help catch the person responsible and recover the stolen jewellery to contact the police."

Contact police on the non-emergency number 101 with any information about the rings.
