A GROUP of mums moved by the story of a four-year-old from Crowle who died weeks after being diagnosed with cancer have organised a family fun day in her memory.

Members of Facebook group Worcester Mums Network decided to hold a fundraising event in aid of the Grace Kelly Ladybird Fundraising Appeal after reading an emotional post from Grace's mum Jennifer.

Little Grace died on November 8, 2014 at Birmingham Children's Hospital just weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of renal cancer.

Her parents Jennifer and Gareth set up the appeal to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice and Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group which funds research and treatment of malignant rhabdoid tumours.

Natalie Hothi, one of the event's organisers, said: "We're all members of the Worcester Mums Network on Facebook and saw Jen's post about the Ladybird appeal.

"Together with a couple of other mums we said we needed to do something because we all have little ones ourselves of similar ages.

"We decided it would be really nice to hold a family fun day.

"Everyone has been so amazing - Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Club has given us the venue for free.

"Everyone from Worcester Mums have been incredible and it wouldn't have been possible without their support.

"I have been working closely with Jen Kelly and that has been really helpful and she has contributed and supported the event massively and a lot of the volunteers are her friends that knew Grace which is lovely."

She added that they hoped to hear from people who could donate toys or, nearer the time, cupcakes or people who wished to get involved.

Frozen stars Elsa and Anna will be putting in an appearance during the fun day at Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Club, Droitwich Road, Worcester, on Sunday, February 28 from 2pm to 5pm.

There will be stalls for adults including jewellery, arts and crafts and sweets and fudge while children can enjoy pirate and fairy storytelling, sock puppet making, a bouncy castle and more.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including a family pass to Avoncroft Museum, Webbs of Wychbold and a beauticians voucher.

Anyone who thinks they can help by donating items, wants to run a stall or would like more information should get in touch by emailing nataliehothi@hotmail.co.uk.
