FIRE crews were called out to a blaze at a house in Abbey Road this afternoon.

The call-out came at 3.07pm after smoke was seen coming from the roof of the two-storey detached property.

Two fire engines from Malvern were initially sent out and were later joined by one from Ledbury and one from Worcester.

Fire fighters using breathing apparatus tackled the blaze, which was confined to the building's roof space.

An ambulance was called, and paramedics treated one person on the scene for smoke inhalation.

While the fire was being dealt with, police closed Abbey Road to traffic at its junction with Priory Road.

The fire was quickly put out and the stop message was sent at 4.25pm.
