COUNCIL staff got their thinking caps on to raise some cash for charity.

The annual staff quiz at Worcestershire County Council, held on Thursday, December 17, raised a total of £310 for good causes.

The quiz was attended by more than 100 members of staff and the winning team nominated Maggs Day Centre as their chosen recipient.

Chairman of the council, Cllr Ian Hopwood, was on hand to present prizes to the winners last week, and has now handed over the donation to Maggs manager Mel Kirk, coincidentally on the 30th anniversary of the day centre.

Cllr Hopwood said: "The quiz is an enjoyable evening for our staff but more importantly it raises funds for local good causes.

"This year's winners have chosen Maggs Day Centre as their nominated charity and it was good to meet Mel on their 30th anniversary to make our donation."

Maggs Day Care Centre provides a lifeline to help vulnerable people survive everything that life throws at them. The centre is open five days a week, and provides a safe, dry environment with food and hot drinks, showers and laundry facilities, as well as mentoring and support services.
