FAMOUS faces will be on hand in Malvern to turn on this year's Christmas lights.

Mark Moraghan, of "Holby City" and "Coronation Street" fame, and Andrew Agnew who plays PC Plum in "Balamory" will be doing the honours this time around- the pair are starring in this year's Malvern Theatres pantomime Peter Pan.

Julian I'Anson, Mayor of Malvern, added: "This will be a magical start to the Christmas season. I hope everyone has a marvellous day and evening, continuing on to great family Christmas'."

The switch-on is part of the Great Malvern Christmas Festival, with other activities including a food and craft market, Santa's grotto, live music, refreshments, a parade of lanterns and many more before the lights are turned on.

The annual event will go ahead on Saturday, November 28, from 10am, with the light switch-on going ahead at 6pm, in Belle Vue Terrace,

Malvern Hills District Council is offering free parking in all of its short and long stay car parks on every Friday and Saturday in the run up to Christmas.

Phil Grove, Leader at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "We are thrilled to be able to offer free parking once again, and hope this will encourage people to shop in our wonderful town to support the great local businesses we have here."
